My First Blog!

Howdy folks!  This is the beginning of a blog where words matter, quality counts, and beef consumers or those who are interested in learning more about beef and agriculture, can share their thoughts and opinions.  I hope to provide you with valuable information to help you understand the lifestyle of farmers and ranchers.

My name is Meghan Anderson and I live in south central Nebraska.

This year, I decided to start a blog. Ive been asked why I would want to start a blog.  Why?  The answer is simple: because I am passionate about agriculture and raising beef cattle in the heart of cattle country in the Midwest.  If we who are lucky enough to be involved in agriculture don’t tell OUR story, the media will tell it for us.  And many of those who attempt to tell the agriculture story have never stepped foot on a farm, ranch or rural setting.

I know of many situations where uninformed individuals try to tell the story of agriculture for us.  I become frustrated when this happens.  There is misinformation that the media gets their hands on and twist what the truth is.   I enjoy sharing my experiences and lifestyle with others.  Farmers and ranchers have nothing to hide.  But many just don’t have the time to share their lifestyle.  Social media is great for those of us who enjoy sharing stories, pictures and our lifestyle with others!

My favorite horse Rummy and I

Farmers and ranchers enjoy living off the land and the peaceful serenity it gives a person.  There is nothing quite like enjoying the calming effect of a sunset or sunrise as you finish a days work.  Many farmers and ranchers aren’t good with a computer or putting their feelings into words.  Those of us who enjoy writing and sharing our story need to be more interactive with the consumers of our product.  But when the day ends, there needs to be some brave people to put their busy day in words and pictures to share.

I will blog about my lifestyle and passion in life: ranching, raising quality beef and agriculture.  I enjoy the outdoors, livestock and our way of life.  A picture tells a great story and I will be adding pictures about my life.

  3. Good Luck Husker Cowgirl! You’re on my favorite list, so will come back and see how you are doing. Have been thinknig about a blog myself, but more emphasis on the horse industry since that’s what I know. Thinking there are some good stories with kids, horses, ranch life and 4-H. Why did you choose word press?

    • Christy, I decided to use WordPress because a friend suggested it. Once I figured out the technicalities it has been easy to use. You definitely should start a blog. You would be really good at it. Thanks for the compliments.

Congratulations Meghan! Your blog looks great!
Since I’ve moved away from our family farm for school and work I’ve realized exactly what you’re talking about — there are many misconceptions that people have about farming and ranching.
Although I never lived your ranching lifestyle I love seeing your photo’s on facebook and sharing them with friends, particularly those who have never been to rural America.
    Keep up the good work!

    • Thanks for the compliments Mandy. I’m glad you like to read about this type of stuff. I enjoy writing and taking pictures and decided it was a pretty good fit for me. Thanks again.

This is a very nice blog, Meagan seems to be up to date on the cow and calf business. Us people in the cattle feeding industry could not operate without the cow calf people. By the way nice shirt!!
